Nearly twenty years ago, I began building software in the early days of the e-commerce boom. Watching the rise and fall of companies during the dot-com era, I learned early that innovation alone is not enough. Soon after, I co-founded my first company to help organizations automate workflows using web services. But back then, automation was slow, costly, and often out of reach for smaller businesses.
