What we look at
Activation
The first 30 days, and whether every new member actually gets the same one.
Signal

Questions about the assessment
Quick answers about the score, your data and what happens next.
A free self-assessment for fitness, wellness and recreation operators. It scores your business on the four areas that decide whether members stay: Activation, Signal, Execution and Ownership, and tells you which one to fix first. The short version takes about 90 seconds; the full version takes about 4 minutes.
Each of the four areas gets a score from 0 to 100 based on your answers. Your overall score is a weighted average: Activation 25%, Signal 30%, Execution 30% and Ownership 15%. If an area is not covered by the version you take, the weights are rebalanced across the areas that are, so short and full scores stay comparable.
Because that is where retention is won or lost, and where most businesses have the least in place. Members usually stop coming weeks before they cancel: in one study of 7,752 gym members, the gap between the last visit and cancelling averaged 2.31 months. Seeing that drift early, and acting on it, matters more than any single onboarding step.
Your score falls into one of four bands: Running a system, Building the system, Holding it together manually, or Founder mode. The band matters less than your lowest area, because that is where the next improvement comes from. Compare your score with yourself over time rather than with other businesses.
No. Your score appears straight away with no email required, and the assessment never asks for member names or data from your systems. Your full results and action plan show right there on the page.
